Lindeman's Bin 40 Merlot

Name- Lindeman's

Variety- Merlot

Region- Southeast Australia

Country- Australia

Year- 2012

Price- $7.99

Wine critic review- Tight nose. Medium-full body. Very soft (too soft for me really), a touch of spice, sweetish. Uncomplicated and super-easy-drinking. A very basic, but good, all purpose house wine. If you want a party wine that will please most and offend few, this is it.

My review- By far, the best wine I have had (yet). It has the perfect amount of tannin and is very smooth. I can taste the sweet and spicy flavor the critic mentioned in his review. I also noticed a plum after taste with this wine. It would go very well with any kind of beef and maybe even pork. I will definitely buy another bottle of this wine in the future.

Sterling Vintner's Collection Pino Grigio

Name- Sterling Vintner's Collection

Variety-Pinto Grigio

Region- Central California

Country- USA

Year- 2010

Price- $13.99

Wine critic's review- Refreshing and fruity, our Sterling Vintner's Collection Pinot Grigio has peach, melon, and kiwi expression accented by honeysuckle, mineral, and spice. A healthy dash of Gewürztraminer adds even more appealing spice, making this wine delightful to pair with a great variety of lighter appetizers.

My review- Can't say I agree with the critic who said it embodied peach, melon, and kiwi taste. I tasted the sweet white grape along with the mild tannin but none of the fruity accents mentioned above. I had this with roasted chicken and it went very well due to how sweet this wine is. Its light flavor is ideal for fish and and other seafood dishes. I highly recommend this wine.

Manischewitz Blackberry Wine

Name- Manischewitz Blackberry Wine

Variety- Pure Blackberry Wine

Region- New York

Country- USA

Year- 2011

Price- $5.99

Wine Critic Review-  WILFRED WONG, The sweet tasting Manischewitz Blackberry Kosher wine is quite delicious albeit almost syrupy in its style; the wine's appealing flavors make it very good by itself.

My review- Drinking this wine is literally like drinking juice. It's crazy how easy it is to drink. There is little tannin with this wine and the taste overall is good but not strong at all. The low price and ease to drink makes this wine very appealing to college students like myself. This wine is definitely not something to drink on a first date but overall this wine is very good for its price.

Cavit Riesling

Name- Cavit Riesling

Variety- Riesling

Region- Northern Italy

Country- Italy

Year- 2010

Price-$12.99

Winemaker review- No other white varietal rivals Riesling's magical blend of exhilarating aromas, ripe fruit flavors, refreshing acidity and versatile compatibility with food. The cool northern Italian climate in which Cavit's vineyards are planted provides excellent growing conditions for this beguiling white grape.

My review- Definitely.....fruity. This white wine has minimal tannin and is very easy to drink. Cavit did a decent job with this wine making it very easy for the aspiring wine connoisseur to taste. However the taste is very shallow and can easily be overtaken by a dinner dish. I would recommend this wine to the beginner trying to get into the game of wine tasting.

Sterling Vintner's Collection- Cabernet Sauvignon

Name- Sterling Vintner's Collection Cabernet Sauvignon

Variety- Cabernet Sauvignon

Region- Central Coast of California

Country- USA

Year- 2010

Price- $13.99

Wine Critic Review- "Like the nose, cherry is the dominant flavor in this wine. It’s not a dark almost burnt cherry like some Cabernet, nor is it a sweet light cherry like a New World Pinot Noir, either. It’s a middle of the road cherry flavor. There was some body, however I wouldn’t call this a big bodied wine. There was just  enough body and tannic structure to be quite enjoyable. There was some oak and cedar on the finish, as well. Overall, this is a relatively typical California jammy styled Cabernet, though this one might trend a little on the lighter side. I enjoyed this wine with grilled steak and potatoes. This wine gets a solid 7 in my book.
Score: 7"
My review- Like the wine critic mentioned above, cherry is the most prevalent flavor in this wine. However I also noticed a strong oak flavor with the cherry. The oak goes with the cherry flavor very well in this wine. Despite the oak and cherry flavor mixture, the tannin taste from this wine is moderate. I also noticed that the wine does not have a very deep flavor, so this wine would not go with any food that has a strong taste.  Overall, I really enjoyed this wine and I plan on having it again.
